Sprout Showcase Series:

Happy 2013! We wish you a new year full of good health and success!

For this edition of our Sprout Showcase Series, we sat down with to get the  behind the scenes info on this great mobile app!

What they are about: A mobile app that makes it easy for nonprofits and brands to connect with the right folks. Users of can earn points by completing volunteer opportunities they find on the app for points, these points can then be used to redeem goods with participating brands.

Interview with Gagan Dhillon, one of the founders:

Why did you start this company?
“It sounds a little bit like a cliche, but we didn’t see anyone out there trying to solve the problem of mobilizing supporters and giving nonprofits the tools to engage with these folks. After having some conversations with the right folks we were pretty confident that we had something here and should move forward with it.”

What is your company’s biggest accomplishment?
We recently just finished up our seed round, it’s in the mid 6 figure range and we’re super excited about having the necessary resources in place to have the opportunity to execute the plan.”

Do you have any advice for future entrepreneurs?
Build products that solve problems, not nice-to-have features. If you have something that shows people it can make things more efficient then your chances of being successful increase dramatically.”

What did you get from working with SproutBox?
SproutBox not only helped us build the first version of the platform that led us to many rave reviews but they also served as an awesome resource of mentorship. Mike and Brad understand the ups and downs of startups and provide a ton of help and advice when it’s needed. Outside of tech expertise I think that’s another strong asset SproutBox offers.”

Where are you now (location, position of the company)?
We’re based out of Indianapolis and are currently in the process of putting together the framework to push our platform out to other markets. We’re putting together the platform to have it roll-out in new communities around the United States, we’re hoping to really push out on the collegiate scene and have some good opportunities lined up in order to make it successful.”

Where do you hope to be in the near future?
I hope by SXSW we’ve established a presence in a few college towns and can carry the momentum SXSW brings to roll-out into other cities.”

What are some fun facts about the company/employees?
We were both a couple of 19 year olds when we started and couldn’t even book proper amenities for business trips because of our age, almost always had to be ‘chaperoned’.”
