Last week, we announced that MyJibe was acquired by MoneyDesktop, provider of the fastest growing personal financial management platform for financial institutions. After less than 9 months on the market, MyJibe made waves in the industry. They caught the eye of MoneyDesktop CEO Ryan Caldwell, who quickly established a vision for accelerated growth.

“I was impressed with the potency of MyJibe’s team. They had accomplished, in software and business development, what most of our well-funded competitors were still working towards,” said Caldwell.

Based in Provo, UT, MoneyDesktop boasts a client base of over 200 banks and credit unions and unmatched partnerships with the country’s top online banking providers. The combination of MyJibe and MoneyDesktop will take PFM to the next level. MyJibe Founders Mike Langellier and Brandon Dewitt will join the MoneyDesktop team in leadership roles.

We’re thrilled by the success MyJibe has achieved is such a short time. We know that most of our investments won’t exit this quickly, but this acquisition is proof that great entrepreneurs can truly move markets when equipped with a great product. With only SproutBox’s investment and a whole lot of hustle (no angel round, no VC funding), Mike and Brandon multiplied their company’s value. I have no doubt that they will add fuel to the fire that MoneyDesktop has created. We’re excited to be part of it.

TechPoint is holding its annual Mira Award Ceremony this weekend, and like a parent at their child’s graduation ceremony, SproutBox couldn’t be more proud.

The awards set out to recognize and honor businesses, universities, entrepreneurs and individuals in thirteen competitive categories for their contributions to Indiana’s technology sector.

Three of the ten nominees for the “Young Professional of the Year Award” are members of the SproutBox family. Matt Hunckler of Verge,  Yaw Aning of PocketTales and Mike Langellier of MyJibe are among the six finalists in the category.

Matt is an organizer for Verge, a SproutBox partner that plans networking events for Indianapolis entrepreneurs. He has a flair for online marketing, branding and startups. A former SproutBox finalist for his company Repurify, Matt is the current Director of Marketing for Slingshot SEO, a consulting firm designed to help businesses optimize successful searches. Go to Matt’s blog for more information on him and his projects.

The former Vice-Chair of Communications Committee for the TechPoint Foundation, Yaw is the founder of Pocket Tales, an online social reading game for kids. Pocket Tales was a SproutBox finalist in 2010 and is now a part of our advisory portfolio.

Mike is the co-founder and CEO of SproutBox’s most recently launched sprout, MyJibe. MyJibe is a web app dedicated to helping individuals plan and manage their finances. Follow Mike on twitter for information and news from MyJibe.

Not to be outdone by its co-founder, MyJibe was nominated for TechPoint’s “Information Technology Company Gazelle” award. Just launched January 2011, MyJibe has received widespread attention from the technology and startup community.

The awards are presented by BKD CPAs & Advisors, one of the largest CPA advisory firms in the U.S. They have been presenting the TechPoint Mira Awards since 2004, and will continue to sponsor the event until 2012.

The 12th annual awards ceremony will take place this Saturday, May 7 from 5 to 11 p.m. at the new The J.W. Mariott in downtown Indianapolis.
